THIS COULD BE EXPLOSIVE

THIS COULD BE EXPLOSIVE........in Castle Cove

Sorry for the late post, but we are most definitely walking on Sunday 16th June.

This walk (approx. 5.5kms) takes us round Castle Cove, into Explosives Reserve and along some foreshore track, continuing on from a previous walk.

Meet on the corner of Cammaray and Willis Roads in Castle Cove at 8am (note to all sat nav users - spelling of Cammaray differs from the suburb)

Looking forward to catching up with a few walkers who have been MIA lately, and hoping for good weather.

As usual, please let us know if you will be coming along.

VIVID

wE'RE A vIVID mOB

This Friday we are let out after dark................the forecast is for fine weather, so it should be a fun night of light, sound and (inter)action.

There is plenty to see and do from the Opera House to Darling Harbour with interactives along the way.

We will meet at 6pm on the corner of Albert and George Streets, near a large red sphere made from witches hats which periodically emits smoke. The plan is to make our way over to the Opera House so if you can't make it by 6pm, then stay in phone contact so we can rendezvous along the way.

Please let me know if you are coming and also if you are around on the long weekend for a walk on Sunday morning.

GO NORTH!!!

EPPING BECKONS

Steve and I have a leave pass, so Marg will be leader of the pack this week, and she has lined up a great walk.

This is a loop walk of around 8.4km that starts and finishes at Epping Station where there is a good café nearby for coffee afterwards.

A great way to explore the Lane Cove Valley from Epping Station, this walk loops around North Epping, returning to the station. There are many sights to be seen along this walk, with Whale Rock and Brown's Waterhole being a couple of highlights. The walk explores Devlins Creek, upper Lane Cove River and Terry's Creek.

Meet on the corner of Langston Place, Pembroke St and Oxford St, Epping. We will have coffee at Nero's in Oxford Street after the walk.

Please let Marg know if you are coming, send me a text and I will forward Marg's number if you don't have it.

Enjoy, and thanks Marg.

WENDY'S WONDERLAND

LOWER NORTH SHORE - NOT QUITE THE SAME AS BEFORE

We have been curious about Wendy Whiteley's garden in Lavender Bay for some time, so  decided to incorporate it into a walk which we did last July. This walk may be familiar, but with a twist - we will cut out parts of Kirribilli, sticking to the Jeffrey St Wharf area, and add in Wendy's garden, not exactly according to the map (what's new?).

All up about 7 - 8 kms. Meet and park on the street near the corner of Woolcott Street and Balls Head Road,Waverton at 8am.

The forecast for Sunday is fine, and we should all need a good walk after the nasty predictions for Friday.

BACK TO CASTLE COVE

Last Sunday we discussed the prospect of a night walk to take in 'Vivid Sydney'. How does Friday night June 7th sound? If there are enough takers we will plot a route, with more details to follow, otherwise we can discuss alternative dates on Sunday morning. I also propose that if the weather is bad for a street walk that night, we adjourn to a pub or Chinatown for a meal. More on Sunday.

19th May will find us gathered at the St Aloysius playing fields in Tyneside Road Willoughby, near Willoughby Park. Plenty of on street parking, not too far from Dose Espresso for coffee after......seems to fit the bill. Oh, yes, the walk - a mixed walk in residential streets, bush and a few hills to keep us honest, hope you can come.

MUM'S THE WORD

Who the heck is........HAROLD REID?

As a Mothers Day special we will take a hike around Harold Reid Reserve, Castle Cove.

This is a very pretty and interesting bush walk, a bit shorter than our usual walks but if we want to walk for coffee afterwards that will add another 1km. Those with lunch dates will be finished in plenty of time to get home and prepare, others might linger over coffee at Dose Espresso at Willoughby (near Harris Farm Market on High Street).

Meet at 8am at the end of Sugarloaf  Crescent, Castle Cove, plenty of on street parking, the pathway is cleverly disguised - this is one of those lovely 'hidden treasures' in our midst.

Cheers,

Bernadette.
